Trailside Afterschool is an enrichment program created and operated by Vineyard Launchpad, a new non-profit who's mission is to bring enrichment and educational opportunities to youth in Vineyard. The staff at Trailside are excited for this extra resource to serve our youth.
This program is our first inaugural program. We are busy preparing to bring this wonderful vision of after school enrichment to your children's lives.
There are many flexible ways to participate. See below!

Pre-registration saves your spot and helps us anticipate what enrollment numbers to plan for.
We will have you fully register and finalize your selections once we have our staff hired. You will make your final selections and payment when registration opens.
Why now?
- It takes 5 minutes
- Get priority enrollment
- Discounted $25 annual enrollment fee (standard is $65)
The time is separated by two time blocks.
The first time-block (2:15-3:15) is called "Power Hour", where kids receive a hearty snack, unwind, and participate in a fun life skills workshop (details explained below).
The second time-block (3:15 - 4:30) is the activities club segment which will rotate between

After school, we provide a high protein, fueling snack to power them up for the rest of the time, followed by their choice of unwind activities from calm to active as each child is different in they way to prefer to unwind. Activities are supervised by caring leaders, who look for opportunities to facilitate friendships.
Mentor Kids is our series of mini life skills workshops that help kids cultivate their life skills such as teamwork, leadership, storytelling, public speaking, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, emergency response, relationship building & socialization, grit & hard work, and much more.
Each child is assigned a leader-mentor (like a camp counselor), who are invested in your child’s well-being. They get to know each child’s interests and celebrate their positives to help them feel seen and supported by a caring adult. Although short, these mini workshops can have a big impact in creating a can-do resilient mindset. Our leaders are here to help encourage, guide, celebrate, and teach mindset tools and life skills.
And not to worry, these are engaging workshops, not rote lectures!
Kids who would benefit from academic tutoring or homework time can go visit the academic support team during this time. Leaders will work with parents and kids to determine if this is a desired service.

The Trailside music teacher Mrs Steggell offers after school orchestra and choir. These offerings are provided through Trailside for Trailside students. The Trailside student council also meets after school. For these students who would like to participate in activities club, we offer this transition option for so kids may get a snack and come to activities club right afterwards.
Here we take attendance and provide a high protein, fueling snack to power them up for the next activity and a moment to unwind before the activities club begins at 3:15.

Activity clubs are thoughtfully planned after school groups that will be led by top quality leaders and skilled instructors. Activities are designed to provide meaningful opportunities for kids to move, learn, create, connect, and grow. It’s like going to summer camp afterschool!
Kids have an active voice and influence in the type activities we do. We strive to introduce kids to new experiences while creating opportunity to explore their interests.

This activity lab is meant to get your kids moving and teach principles of caring for our bodies, understanding our physiology, and having fun being active! We will rotate through speciality classes geared to introducing kids to new modes of physical movement such as yoga, dance aerobics, karate, intro tumbling, agility fun, etc

This activity lab is geared to help your kids learn to be creators, innovators, and builders, those who will shape our future. We teach various mediums to create with, express ideas, and understand the fundamentals of creating, critical thinking, problem solving, making and building skills, teamwork, and individual expression. Kids will have a choice between 2-3 activities each day based on their interests.

Additional interests-based clubs on Fridays such as strategic board/card games, theatre, life skills, gardening, Baking, niche interests, guest entertainers etc. Driven by the interests of the kids and parents.
We get that your kids will have been at school all day. Our activities will be designed to keep them engaged, moving, and having fun. If they need quiet time, we also have a calm area they are free to go anytime.
We believe providing early exposure to a wide variety of experiences encourages children to follow their curiosity and discover interests early on so they gravitate to what brings them joy and can feel confident in as they grow.
It is of utmost importance to us that we have top quality staff to bring the fun and engagement to activities for your kids. We will ensure our staff is qualified and experienced to help your child feel safe, included, and excited to participate.

We aim to make this program as affordable as possible while ensuring program sustainability (pay for our expenses to run a program). By operating as a non-profit, we can accept donations and apply for grants. We hope to increase the accessibility of the program as additional funding streams become available.
Currently we do not receive any alternate sources of funding to provide discounted rates or scholarships. As the fund builds and we seek grants or donations, it is our hope to offer scholarships at a future time.
Snacks are included for those who enroll for the "Power Hour" time block, NOT the activities club. We discourage kids bringing their own snacks to avoid food discrepancy among the children. If there are special dietary needs we will make an exception.
Absolutely! We offer priority registration to Trailside students and those attending a full week session. We open the remainder openings to the community, a wonderful option for many such as homeschool kids.
Each group will have a maximum 15 kids per leader or instructor and we have floating aides to help where needed. We will have up to a total of 4 groups (60 kids in total with a full program).
Absolutely! We will accept screened volunteers 16+. Volunteering with after school is a wonderful way to bolster a resume and help the community. We love having volunteers add fun and help with the clubs we offer.
Your child's safety is our number one priority. We will take attendance to ensure kids make it from school to their group. All leaders will be properly screened and pass background checks. Leaders will have additional certifications such as CPR training. We have a detailed code of conduct and procedures to handle inappropriate behavior or potentially dangerous situations. We will hold regular trainings about child safety. Leaders play an active role engaging and monitoring the kids. This will NOT be a free roaming daycare.
