No, we are primarily looking for competency in planning and implementing the themed activities and ability to work with kids in a positive and engaging way. If you feel you can do this, we want to hear from you! We are open to hiring current college students to retirees and all the in between!
We are committed to creating a safe, positive, and respectful environment for both students and activity leaders. While we understand that children can be energetic, talkative, and occasionally need redirection, there are clear behavioral boundaries that must be upheld.
We do not tolerate behaviors such as name-calling, bullying, physical aggression, destruction of property, persistent negativity, or intentional disruption of activities. As a staff will address minor issues with guidance and redirection; however, ongoing or serious behavior concerns will not be permitted to continue.
If a child is unable to meet the behavioral expectations despite support and intervention, we will work with families to determine whether the program is the right fit. Our priority is maintaining a safe and welcoming space where all participants and leaders can thrive.
This role will be for the 2026-2027 school year. We will follow the Alpine school calendar and take the same days off that the school district has specified. We are subject to Trailside administration canceling a session when they need the gym space. It should not happen often, but if for example the staff is having a training session and needs the gym, the school principal may ask that we cancel the program for that day. Please note we will not be paying our activity leads for any days that are canceled or sick leave as this is an hourly position.
We get that life happens! To avoid program interruption, we ask that all our activity leads prepare a couple of backup activities that another leader could easily step in and implement if you cannot make your session. If you are sick or need the day off, we will ask that you coordinate with the other activity leads or aides to see who can cover your session. If there are no others that can step in, the director will be prepared to step in when needed. We are depending on you to show up, so if you are unsure if you will be able to commit or be punctual, please do not apply.
Please note: Other activity leads or aides may reach out to you to cover their activity in the event that they are sick. We appreciate the versatility and flexibility in our staff when needed.
