Are you looking for a fun and rewarding part time job sharing your passion for being active? If so, this job will be a great fit! We are looking for someone to fill this role for the 2026-2027 school year.
We are seeking an engaging and reliable fitness activity leader to facilitate movement and health themed activities for elementary-aged students in a small, supportive setting for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and has a passion for the arts, crafting, making, and creating!
Whether you're a current art student, a retired creative, a classroom teacher, or a grandparent — if you can make art and creative activities exciting for kids, and enjoy creating hands-on experiments, we want to hear from you!
We're looking for someone who can get down on a kid's level, spark their curiosity, and guide them to think for themselves. This is not a lecture-style role. The best sessions look more like guided exploration and collaboration than a classroom lesson — kids asking questions, trying things out, and figuring it out together.
Each day you will arrive at 3:00 at the Trailside gym (where the activities take place) and prepare your activity setup for the session that begins at 3:15 (If you need to come earlier we can arrange that).
The session goes from 3:15 - 4:30 (75m). If there are more than 15 kids registered for the session, they will be split in to two groups. You will be over one group, and your co activity leader (working under your direction) will be over the other group. You will be responsible to organize and lead the activities session with your co activities lead.
At the end of the session you will ensure that the kids have a ride home or are accounted for, then help with any cleanup in the gym as needed. With any time left, the activities leads will do a recap with with the director or collaborate with others as needed.
During the week, you will choose a day and time that works for you to prepare your activities and materials for the following week. We will compensate you for 2-3 hours of prep time per week and purchase materials requested.
You will be a fundamental activity lead in our Creators and Makers Activity club. This club has three primary objectives.
Many parents in Vineyard are deeply in need of a quality after school program at Trailside and/or eager for opportunities for their kids to make friends, move more, create and learn. You will play a major part in starting this newly inaugurated program and will directly impacting the lives of kids through your talents, passion, and care.
Kids wants to be seen, supported, and have fun! Adults want their kids to thrive, and you get to help them do both! Come work with a group of other inspiring adults full of uplifting energy, all striving to create something meaningful together for these kids and their families. We know that how kids end the school day, is the energy they bring home. Your impact here will have far reaching effects on families.
Please reach us at lilcolt@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No, we are primarily looking for competency in planning and implementing the themed activities and ability to work with kids in a positive and engaging way. If you feel you can do this, we want to hear from you! We are open to hiring current college students to retirees and all the in between!
We are committed to creating a safe, positive, and respectful environment for both students and activity leaders. While we understand that children can be energetic, talkative, and occasionally need redirection, there are clear behavioral boundaries that must be upheld.
We do not tolerate behaviors such as name-calling, bullying, physical aggression, destruction of property, persistent negativity, or intentional disruption of activities. As a staff will address minor issues with guidance and redirection; however, ongoing or serious behavior concerns will not be permitted to continue.
If a child is unable to meet the behavioral expectations despite support and intervention, we will work with families to determine whether the program is the right fit. Our priority is maintaining a safe and welcoming space where all participants and leaders can thrive.
This role will be for the 2026-2027 school year. We will follow the Alpine school calendar and take the same days off that the school district has specified. We are subject to Trailside administration canceling a session when they need the gym space. It should not happen often, but if for example the staff is having a training session and needs the gym, the school principal may ask that we cancel the program for that day. Please note we will not be paying our activity leads for any days that are canceled or sick leave as this is an hourly position.
We get that life happens! To avoid program interruption, we ask that all our activity leads prepare a couple of backup activities that another leader could easily step in and implement if you cannot make your session. If you are sick or need the day off, we will ask that you coordinate with the other activity leads to see who can cover your session. If there are no leads that can step in, the director will be prepared to step in when needed. We are depending on you to show up, so if you are unsure if you will be able to commit or be punctual, please do not apply.
Please note: Other activity leads may reach out to you to cover their activity in the event that they are sick. We appreciate the versatility and flexibility in our activity leads when needed.
